Caribbean Almond

The Caribbean Almond is known by many names, the West India Almond, Sweet Almond and Sea Almond, and each of the names doesnt quite explain the beauty of this tree. Its leaves are large and turn red then yellow or orange before falling to their branch during the dry season. The fruit oval and slightly flattened is  green and becomes slightly yellow then red when mature. One must break the thick bark to reach the edible part. The oil and sweet almond has a taste that is similar to that of hazelnut. The Caribbean Almond may help reduce body weight, improve blood sugar control, and protect against chronic diseases.
