Malabar Chestnut

Category

A medium to large sized, spreading tree to over 60ft tall, the Malabar Chestnut is a spreading tree that’s bears a hardy nut. Malabar chestnuts are the nuts of a large, woody, football-shaped pod. Flowers are very fluffy and showy, having long, foot long petals drooping outwards from their center. Fruits burst open when ripe to expose the large seeds. As the pods ripen from green to dark brown, almost black, they swell and split at these longitudinal seams to expel the nuts. Raw Malabar chestnuts have a mild nutty taste reminiscent of peanuts and almonds.

Fruit Trees are priced based on Size and Maturity.
