Black Sapote

A lovely tree, it has shiny dark green leaves, black bark with shapely crowns reaching heights of 60 feet in its natural habitat. Black Sapote is known as the chocolate pudding fruit for its dark brown, custard-like flesh. Once you open a ripe black sapote  you can see why it is called “chocolate pudding fruit.” The deep rich brown smooth pulp with its spoon-like consistency looks exactly like chocolate pudding. Besides tasting good, black sapote is nutritious for it packs fiber, vitamins, and minerals and it is low-caloric.
